"An appreciation for beauty and art was pressed into my heart from the very start of my life."

When Sam thinks of the life he gets to lead, he can’t think of anything better. He loves the Lord, has a great wife, son, and family, and is both a youth minister and artist.

Sam grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota, the son of John and Ruth Coleman, with two beautiful sisters and three great brothers. Some of Sam’s passions growing up were spending time with his family, painting, hunting, fishing, hiking, riding horse, hockey, and anything outside. He also began his passion for art that continues today.

During the summers, Sam had the opportunity to work on his Grandpa’s farm in western North Dakota and came to love the badlands and the farming and ranching community.

During his Junior and Senior years of High School, Sam went to a program called ALERT in the upper peninsula of Michigan and received his paramedic license and worked with that program to respond to disasters around the nation.

Sam continued his education at Bismarck State College for two years and then continued his art career at an Art School called The Atelier in Minneapolis. This school taught Sam the fundamentals of art and through his years he developed a passion for landscapes, still life, and portraiture. While in Minneapolis, Sam also attended a Bible School called Magdalen College and received his ordination as a minister.

When Sam returned home from school, he intended to continue his art full-time but a position as youth director opened at Charity Lutheran Church and presently Sam is going on his sixth year there. Sam also married the love of his life, Sarah, and they now have a little boy named Gabriel.

Sam gives his thanks to Jesus for bringing him to this place in his life and would like to share one of his favorite passages of Scripture!

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
